Q I just finished reading your response in Wednesday's column to Scott Carr about the lack of Obama bumper stickers on Prius vehicles. I love your answer, but I'm sure you'll be hearing from many who think your answer was a thinly veiled support of Obama. I'll be watching to see if anyone writes in to complain. I support both you and Obama. Good job!

A Oh, good God. I think every Romney supporter in the Bay Area has angrily chastised me. Here is what Scott Carr commented on, plus my response -- which I thought was pretty mild.

Q Four years ago almost every single Prius had a bumper sticker for Obama. I did see one in 2008 with a McCain sticker, but I believe that came from an alternate universe. But this season, I have not seen a single Obama 2012 bumper sticker on a Prius. What is going on? Have Prius owners become apolitical? Or, have they become timid Republicans too scared to slap on a Romney sticker? What is your opinion? Why no Obama stickers on Prius cars this election season?

A I've seen a few Obama stickers, but have only seen one Romney-Ryan sticker -- on a big, honkin' SUV. My opinion: Obama brought so much hope to the 2008 campaign after eight years of economic policies that had us at the brink of a depression. Obama helped avoid that, but the economy under his watch has improved only slightly, and both Prius and non-Prius owners realize how much work remains.

Q Geez, Gary, just put the Obama sticker on your Prius and stop pussyfooting around. It's not like everybody doesn't know who you are voting for by now. Remember, I'm counting on my Romney vote to offset yours!

A And off we go. ...

Q Please tell Scotty Carr that the reason he doesn't see any Obama decals is because smart Prius owners, like me, have opened up our eyes. Never again would I vote for Obama. Enough said. By the way, your comment about seeing a Romney decal on an SUV was unnecessary. ... Easy on the Bush-bashing. I drive an F-250 four-wheel drive diesel pickup with my Romney sticker displayed loud and proud! ... When did Roadshow become another mouthpiece for Obama? By the way, I drive a 17-year-old Ford and I support Romney/Ryan. This country can't survive another four years of Obama. ... Please leave your liberal politics out of the traffic reporting please!

A Now to the other side.

Q Gary, I was glad that you printed the remarks from a reader wondering why he had not seen as many Obama bumper stickers on the cars of Prius owners as were so common in 2008. I had Obama stickers four years ago but now have a new Prius without them. I still support the president but we all know he will win in California, so it's not as important to slap a bumper sticker on my new car. ... Lighten up. Gary's answer was entirely appropriate to the question that was put forth.

A And ...

Q In response to Scott Carr's question about the Prii without Obama bumper stickers: I drive a Prius and did have one on my car which was torn off, shredded and left beside my car in a parking lot in Walnut Creek (obviously by a Romney supporter who didn't want an advertisement for Obama). I was furious that my freedom of speech was taken away so easily.

A You have a right to be upset. It sounds like a village somewhere is missing its idiot.
