Here are some of the milestone moments from the singer's 20-year recording career.
1992 -- The group R. Kelly and Public Announcement makes its debut with "Born into the 90s"
1993 -- Kelly releases his debut solo album, "12 Play."
1995 -- Michael Jackson records the Kelly composition "You Are Not Alone," which is later nominated for the song of the year Grammy.
1998 -- The inspiration anthem "I Believe I Can Fly" wins three major Grammy Awards.
2001 -- Wins six Billboard Awards, including top R&B/hip-hop artist
2002 -- Releases "Best of Both Worlds," his first full-length collaboration with Jay-Z.
2003 -- Hits No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart with "Step in the Name of Love."
2005 — Begins his video music series, "Trapped in the Closet."
2007 -- Puts out "Double Up," which is the last Kelly album (to date) to hit No. 1 on the pop charts.
