You know those movies that feel they could've been, should've been, told as a "Saturday Night Live" skit? Here's one that feels like it probably could've been, should've been, tackled as a "Twilight Zone" segment.
During its pre-screening introduction at the South by Southwest film festival, the emcee told the audience that it was probably best not to say too much about the sci-fi film in advance. I'll honor that directive here as well, mainly because there's not a lot to say.
The paper-thin plot deals with some big concepts -- such as love, betrayal and, of course, meteors. There's something going on about an alternate universe, or maybe it really has to do with time travel. Who knows? It was very telling when, on the next night, I ran into someone who also saw the film and thought he might've accidentally fallen asleep during it. He felt like he must have missed something, which is why the film seemed so confusing and unrewarding.
Nope. Turns out he didn't fall asleep. But I could understand why he might've wanted to.
