Transcript to Alaska

Concord residents Roy and Margie Garcia traveled north to Alaska in August to visit former Concord residents Ed and Terri Mooradian. Ed, a Concord police officer from 1955-68, and Terri live in Willow, Alaska, and they served as guides for the Garcias in a tour of the area. The group went to Homer for a few days, where they stayed at the rustic Land's End Lodge, complete with a mermaid relaxing on the sign, on the end of the Homer Spit. The Garcias took a short break from their busy schedule to catch up on the community news in the Concord Transcript, and then they were off for a boat tour of Seldovia, a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage and a visit to the small, quaint tourist town of Talkeetna.

Is the economy making you rethink your travel plans? Are you reducing your week in Spain to a weekend in Sacramento? It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across the Bay or up the coast, remember to pack the Transcript to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been. Send your photo (no cell phone images) and information to Transcript on the Road, c/o Concord Transcript, 2640 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598, or e-mail in .jpg format to transcript@bayareanewsgroup.com.
