A teachable moment
Concord author and filmmaker Gino Caputi read his new book, "Tara's Lookout," to children and their parents at the Concord Library on March 19. Caputi hopes the book, about a young girl with a disability, will teach children about acceptance and inclusion of those who are "differently-abled." While visiting his parents-in-law in India, he was inspired to write the fictional book based on a real-life character with developmental disabilities. The writing was complete in about a week, but Caputi spent about a year illustrating the book. He anticipates making the central character into a series, and already has two more storylines written.
