The Davidson family of Concord -- Dale, Robin and son Mark -- spent 11 days in December, including New Year's Eve, enjoying the history, culture and cordial people in Guatemala. The trio visited the Museum of Archaeology in Guatemala City, highlands of Chichicastenango, enjoyed a boat cruise on Lake Atitlan, a coffee plantation in the colonial city of Antigua and the Mayan ruins of Tikal. They stopped for a moment to catch up with the community news in the Concord Transcript at an ancient stone "stela" at the Quirigua Mayan archaeological site. A trip highlight included New Year's Eve with loud fireworks and local foods.
It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across the Bay or across the country -- remember to pack the Transcript to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been.
