A group of about 25 girls from Wren Avenue Elementary School in Concord got a behind-the-scenes tour at the Exploratorium at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco as part of the Techbridge program. In top photo, Emily Tussing, 11, left, and Brenda Morales 10, explain their project at a development workshop, while fifth-graders, middle left photo, Jada Dumantay, 11, left, and Alejah Phillips, 11, build their project. And it is a new experience for Jada, middle right photo, and Brizeyda Hernandez, 10, bottom photo, to dissect a cow's eye get as they get help from Exploratorium staffer Nina Rubin. Techbridge encourages girls in science, technology and engineering through after-school activities, career exploration, and academic and career guidance. On field trips and at work sites, the girls interact with female role models about science-related fields of study.
