Streets in the downtown area and along Concord Boulevard will be closed or congested due to Fourth of July activities.

From 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, July 3-4, there will be increased traffic near Dave Brubeck Park due to the Singing Flag event, with Concord Boulevard between Glazier Drive and West Street closed to traffic from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Use Clayton Road as an alternate.

From 8 to 9:30 a.m. on the Fourth of July, several streets in the downtown will be closed for the Concord Police Association's Stars and Stripes 5K Run and Walk. Most of the closures for the run will be brief as volunteers, including more than 20 off-duty police officers, will be monitoring the course. (For a detailed map of the course and streets closures, visit www.ci.concord.ca.us.)

Also on the Fourth of July, Salvio Street near Todos Santos Plaza will be closed at 9:30 a.m. from the back lot of Park & Shop to Parkside Drive for the annual parade, which this year, follows a new route. Downtown streets intersecting Salvio Street will be closed, though Willow Pass Road will remain open. (For a detailed map of the new parade route and street closures, visit www.ci.concord.ca.us.)
