Patty Cakes Story Time: for children up to 3 years old attending with a caregiver, is from 11-11:15 a.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 14. It features songs, rhymes and stories with an aim to early literacy.
Picture Book Time: for children 3-5 years old who may attend without a caregiver, is at 11 a.m. Thursdays through Aug. 16.
Gaming (with Doug): 4-5:30 p.m. July 18, 25. Teens ages 12-17 can play Wii games. Sessions feature Raving Rabbids TV Party (bring your own nunchucks) and Super Smash Bros. Brawl (bring your own nunchucks).
Writer's Workshop Summer Dreamscapes -- Take Flight and Write: 3-5 p.m. July 18. Youth ages 12-18 will learn how to write beginnings, middles and endings and capture the readers' attention from the first word. Led by children's authors Sarah Wilson and Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff. Register by July 17.
Cupcake chefs: 4-5 p.m. Aug. 1. Teens ages 12-17 can design their own cupcake and become a cupcake chef. Registration is now open.

Book Buddies: 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. A book buddy volunteer reader will be in the library to read stories to children of all ages.
The Secret Language of Dreams and Fairy Tales -- A Talk with Kevin Dincher: 1-2 p.m. July 21. Adults are invited to look at the common language of dreams and fairy tales and what they tell us about ourselves. Part of the Summer Reads program.
Clayton Library Book Group: 7-9 p.m. the second Mondays, and open to interested adults. Sunny Solomon leads the July 9 discussion of "Travels With Charley," by John Steinbeck.

Peanuts on the Go! 4-5 p.m. Aug. 8. Kids in grades K-5 can learn about the "Peanuts" comic strip and learn how to draw Snoopy.
Campfire Sing-a-long: 7-8 p.m. July 30. All ages are invited to sing songs by the fire and eat s'mores.
Concord Mystery Book Club: 2:30 p.m. the second Sunday of the month, and mystery lovers are invited to join the group. On Aug. 12, the discussion will be on "Bruno, Chief of Police" by Martin Walker.
Knitting and crochet group: 1:15-4:45 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Drop in anytime to knit, crochet and network. Some practice yarn provided, but bring your own needles.
Small claims adviser workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month, presented by the Contra Costa County Superior Court. On July 12, participants will learn how to prepare for their court appearance, file court forms, and organize their case. The program is free and open to everyone. No registration, but latecomers will not be admitted due to the large amount of information to be covered.
