Patty Cakes Story Time: for children up to 3 years old attending with a caregiver, is from 11-11:15 a.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 14. It features songs, rhymes and stories with an aim to early literacy.
Picture Book Time: for children 3-5 years old who may attend without a caregiver, is at 11 a.m. Thursdays through Aug. 16.
Gaming (with Doug): 4-5:30 p.m. July 25. Teens ages 12-17 can play Wii games. Session features Super Smash Bros. Brawl (bring your own nunchucks).
Cupcake chefs: 4-5 p.m. Aug. 1. Teens ages 12-17 can design their own cupcake and become a cupcake chef. Registration is now open.
Mellow Zombie's Marshmallow Art: 4-5 p.m. Aug. 8. Teens ages 12-17 can make their own zombie with a marshmallow. Registration is required by Aug. 6.
Peanuts on the Go: 7-8 p.m. Aug. 8. Kids in grades K-5 can learn about the "Peanuts" comic strip characters and learn how to draw Snoopy.
Festival of Fun: 2-3 p.m. Aug. 9. Kids ages 5-11 are invited to "Dream Big" as a part of the Summer
Book Buddies: 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. A book buddy reader will be in the library to read stories to children of all ages.
The Secret Language of Dreams and Fairy Tales -- A Talk with Kevin Dincher: 1-2 p.m. July 21. Adults are invited to look at the common language of dreams and fairy tales and what they tell us about ourselves. Part of the Summer Reads program.
Clayton Community Library An Introduction for Teachers: 4-5:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Ask a librarian about the library, find out how they library can help students, find a book that Contra Costa County does not own and more with a Q&A with Doug Thomas, adult services assistant at the library. Register by Aug. 21 as space is limited.
Clayton Library Book Group: 7-9 p.m. the second Mondays, and open to interested adults. Sunny Solomon leads the Aug. 13 discussion of "Maisie Dobbs" by Jacqueline Winspear.

Concord Mystery Book Club: 2:30 p.m. the second Sunday of the month, and mystery lovers are invited to join the group. On Aug. 12, the discussion will be on "Bruno, Chief of Police" by Martin Walker.
Knitting and crochet group: 1:15-4:45 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Drop in anytime to knit, crochet and network. Some practice yarn provided, but bring your own needles.
Small claims adviser workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month, presented by the Contra Costa County Superior Court. The program is free and open to everyone. No registration, but latecomers will not be admitted due to the large amount of information to be covered.
