Transcript in Antarctica
During a four-week trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, Antarctica, and South Georgia and the Falkland Islands, David and Judi Gavin of Clayton took a moment to catch up with the community news in the Concord Transcript at St. Andrew's Bay on South Georgia Island. The 150,000 pairs of king penguins that call the area home did not seem to mind the visit. The February cruise included lectures by Peter Hillary, son of Sir Edmund Hillary, who along with sherpa Tenzing Norgay, were the first men to reach the summit of Mount Everest. The couple also saw the the Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls, and Judi notes that they missed seeing Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, by a day at the small museum in Stanley, Falkland Islands.
It doesn't matter if your time away is spent across the Bay or across the country -- remember to pack the Transcript to keep up with news of the community, and then show your neighbors where you have been.
