All branches will be closed Dec. 23-25, for the Christmas holiday, and by 5 p.m. Dec. 31-Jan. 1, for the New Year's holiday.   • At the Clayton Community Library, Story Time programs are on vacation, and will return after the new year.

  • At the Concord Library, Story Time programs are free.

    Baby & Toddler Story Time: 10:15-10:35 a.m. and 11:15-11:35 a.m. Tuesdays. It is for children ages 0-3½ attending with a caregiver and features short picture books, songs and bounces.

    Preschool Story Time: 10:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 12, is for children 3-5 and features stories and songs. A new session starts Jan. 2-Feb. 6.

    Bilingual Storytime: 1:30-2 p.m. Jan. 7-Feb. 11 (no session Jan. 21). Kids ages 0-5 can listen to stories and songs in English and Spanish.

    Puppet Art Theater -- The Boy Who Cried Wolf: 7-8 p.m. Dec. 17. For kids 5-11, the Puppet Art Theater will present the classic story with a holiday twist.

    LEGO & Listen: 7 p.m. Jan. 14. Kids ages 8-12 can build with Lego blocks while listening to a recorded book. Registration is required by Jan. 13. Space is limited.

    Preschool Parachute Program: 7-7:45 p.m. Jan. 7. There will be singing and rhythm activities for children ages 3-5. Registration is required and limited. Register in person at the information desk or call the library.

    Multicultural Music from Around the World: 7-8 p.m. Jan. 28. Kids of all ages are invited to a performance by Don O'Brien.

    Concord Mystery Book Club: 2:30 p.m. the second Sunday of the month, and mystery lovers are invited to join the group. On Dec. 9, the discussion will be on "Friend of the Devil" by Peter Robinson.

    Computer Tutoring: 10-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and Saturdays. Adults can get one-on-one help with basic computer instruction -- setting up an email account, searching the Internet, formatting a Word document and beginning Excel skills.

    Small claims adviser workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month, presented by the Contra Costa County Superior Court. The program is free and open to everyone. No registration, but latecomers will not be admitted due to the large amount of information to be covered.
