Patty Cakes Story Time: 11-11:20 a.m. Tuesdays through March 5. For children up to 3 years old attending with a caregiver, the program features songs, rhymes and stories with an aim to early literacy.
Picture Book Time: 11-11:30 a.m. Thursdays through March 7. Children 3-5 years old may attend without a caregiver.
Meet Mr. Lincoln: 7:40-8:25 p.m. Jan. 28. Kids in grade 2 and older can meet Abraham Lincoln, as performed by Kevin Weinert, who will offer folksy tales from the 16th U.S. President's life. The free event is sponsored by the Clayton Community Library Foundation. No registration.
Book Buddies: 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. A book buddy volunteer reader is in the library to read stories to children ages 3 and older.
Solar Energy Basics for Homes and Farms: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 9. Participants will learn about solar technologies, including solar electricity and solar water heating, from Pete Shoemaker, renewables program coordinator with PG&E Pacific Energy
Clayton Community Library 101: An Introduction: 7-8 p.m. Feb. 27. Adults can learn about how to access magazine articles, borrow a book that the library does not own, the save, list, search and vacation hold options on the visual catalog, and more. There will a brief presentation and time for discussion and questions. Space is limited and registration is required.
Clayton Library Book Club: 7-9 p.m. the second Mondays, and open to anyone interested. On Feb. 11, Sunny Solomon leads the discussion of "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian," by Shermann Alexie.

Bilingual Storytime: 1:30-2 p.m. Mondays through Feb. 11 (no session Jan. 21). Kids ages 0-5 can listen to stories and songs in English and Spanish.
LEGO & Listen: 7 p.m. Feb. 25. Kids ages 6-12 can build with Lego blocks while listening to a recorded book. Space is limited and registration is required by Feb. 24.
Toddler Tumble Time: noon-1:15 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 31-Feb. 28. Early literacy for children up to age 3 1/2. Space is limited to 25, and registration is required.
Storyteller Kirk Waller: 7-7:45 p.m. Feb. 11. Kids are invited to hear award-winning storyteller Kirk Waller, who has received a Parent's Choice Foundation Gold Award for his latest CD, "But Why? Stories, Music and Songs."
Multicultural Music from Around the World: 7-8 p.m. Jan. 28. Kids of all ages are invited to a performance by Don O'Brien.
Knitting and crochet group: 1:15-4:45 p.m. Feb. 3. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Drop in anytime to knit, crochet and network. Free knitting instruction during first half of class by Melanie Mintz, and free crocheting help the second half of class by Chris Curtiss. Some scrap yarn provided, but bring your own needles or hook.
Computer Tutoring: 10-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and Saturdays. Adults can get one-on-one help with basic computer instruction -- setting up an email account, searching the Internet, formatting a Word document and beginning Excel skills.
Small claims adviser workshop: 5:30-8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month, presented by the Contra Costa County Superior Court. The program is free and open to everyone. No registration, but latecomers will not be admitted due to the large amount of information to be covered.
