Clayton Valley music boosters set fundraiser
The Clayton Valley Charter High School instrumental music program presents "Hooray for Hollywood," on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the school, 1101 Alberta Way, Concord.
The event will start at 7 p.m. and includes dinner, live and silent auctions, raffles, as well as entertainment by the CVCHS jazz band and wind ensemble.
Tickets are $20 per person, $25 after Feb. 1, and can be at purchased at www.claytonbands.org.
All proceeds will benefit the instrumental music program at Clayton Valley Charter High School.

Mountain View PFC is offering scholarships
The Mountain View Elementary School Parent/Faculty Club is offering its annual $500 scholarship to any student who attended Mountain View, completing at least the fifth grade, and upon graduation from high school plans to attend a community or four-year college/university.
Students should submit their applications through March 15 of their senior year.
Applications are available at the Mountain View office, 1705 Thornwood Drive, Concord.

Crab feed is to benefit the Concord High choir
A Concord High School Choir fundraiser is planned from 6 to 10 p.m. March 2, at Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Road, Concord.
There will be dancing, a raffle and silent auction. Dinner includes crab, pasta, salad, bread, coffee. A no-host bar offers beer, wine, and soda.
Tickets are $45 each or $400 for a table of 10. No tickets are sold at the door.

Register for Mt. Diablo district kindergarten
Preregistration of children eligible for transitional kindergarten and kindergarten in August will be on a first-come basis at all Mt. Diablo Unified School District elementary schools.
Registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. starting Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Exception:
Children who reach the age of 5 on or before Oct. 1, 2013, are eligible for kindergarten in August. Children who reach the age of 5 between Oct. 2-Dec. 2, 2013, are eligible for transitional kindergarten in August.
Parents should bring to registration:

High school students can 'Direct Change'
Student filmmakers throughout California are invited to "Direct Change" by submitting videos for a statewide contest to prevent suicide and change minds about mental illness.
The contest is part of statewide efforts to prevent suicide, reduce stigma and discrimination related to mental illness, and to promote the mental health and wellness of students.
These initiatives are funded by the Mental Health Services Act (Prop. 63) and administered by the California Mental Health Services Authority, an organization of county governments working to improve mental health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
Contest requirements:
Students can download an entry form at www.DirectingChange.org before submitting their PSA. For each Intent to Direct form that is submitted, the student's school is entered for a chance to win a suicide prevention program.
Entry deadline is midnight March 1.

DVC looks for hosts for international students
The International Education Center at Diablo Valley is looking for families to host international students on a long- or short-term basis.
Families get a monthly stipend of $825 per student.
