The Student Council at Westwood Elementary School in Concord raised funds recently to donate to Sleep Train's Foster Kids program. They chose the organization because the students recognized its slogan: "Not everyone can be a foster parent, but anyone can help a foster child."
Give Something Back, whose largest account is Sleep Train, offered to match the students' donation, and after playing a guessing game with the students, they ended up tripling the donation.
Third-grade teacher Paula Oesterling said the children were moved by the event knowing that they were helping others their age, and that some of them might be their classmates.
Sleep Train representatives accepting the check from Student Council members were Jason Smith, Jeff Walter and Charlie Davies. Also on hand at the school presentation were John Fisher and Mike Hannigan from Give Something Back.
