Campolindo volleyball continues hot streak

  • The Campolindo High boys volleyball team rallied for a 16-26, 27-25, 15-11 win over College Park on March 16 in the Deer Valley Tournament's Gold Bracket championship match to improve to 7-0 on the season. The Cougars' Michael Standring came up big as he had four kills, three of them late, in the second game. The third game was nip and tuck, but Campolindo took control after a kill by Yize Dong made it 13-11, and Stephen Buhl's kill finished it. College Park's Kevin Fortney had seven kills in the first two games, and nine for the match. College Park and Campolindo both won its respective pools as the Falcons beat Division I rival Deer Valley and Sir Francis Drake-San Anselmo, and Campolindo beat Foothill and St. Patrick-St. Vincent to advance to the finals

    DLS shines at Marsh Creek Invitational

  • The De La Salle High track and field team took third place at the Marsh Creek Invitational at Heritage High on March 16. Leading the Spartans were Malik Morris, who won the 100 hurdles in 14.68 seconds and led both the 400 relay team and 1,600 relay team win their events. Carondelet's Shelby Vaculin won the 800 meters in 2:19.63.

    Knights swim teams off to strong start

  • The Las Lomas High boys and girls swim teams earned Diablo Foothill Athletic League wins over Dublin on March 15. The boys team beat the Gaels 132-37, with Jackson Miller winning the 200 freestyle (1:47.02) and the 100 backstroke (55.18), and swimming a leg for the victorious 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. The girls team beat Dublin 130-40, as Tara Middleton won the 200 freestyle (2:07.91) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.07).

    Falcons beat Cardinals for first victory

  • The College Park High baseball team picked up its first victory of the season March 16, beating Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa 6-2 in the East Bay vs. North Bay Challenge. Starting pitcher Anthony Baleto threw six innings and have five strikeouts and no walks as the Falcons improved to 1-1-1 on the year. Infielder Sean Hennessy went 2 for 4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base for College Park.

  • California Interscholastic Federation championships, basketball, March 23, 4 p.m. -- The College Park boys basketball team takes on Redondo Union-Redondo Beach in the CIF Division II state championship at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. The Falcons are trying for their first state title.

  • East Bay vs. San Joaquin Showdown, baseball, March 23 -- Catch the top teams competing at the Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton.

  • Joe Worsley, Campolindo boys volleyball -- The sophomore had 13 assists and three kills to lead the Cougars past College Park in the Deer Valley Tournament's Gold Bracket championship match.

  • Seb Flores, College Park boys basketball -- Flores scored 23 points to help the Falcons beat Dublin 93-90 in the Division II Northern regional final on March 16.

  • Tara Middleton, Las Lomas girls swimming -- Middleton won both the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke to lead the Knights past Dublin 130-40 in a DFAL meet on March 15.

  • Malik Morris, De La Salle track and field -- Morris won the 100 hurdles and led both the 400 and 1,600 relay teams to victory at the Marsh Creek Invitational at Heritage High in Brentwood on March 16.

  • Justin Pagila, De La Salle golf -- Pagila, a senior who has signed with Army, tied the Diablo Country Club course record as he shot a 9-under 62 on March 11, leading the Spartans to a victory at the De La Salle Invitational.
