Air National Guard Airman Carla J. Jacome Garcia has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Those who complete the training earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
Garcia is the daughter of Gerardo and Yasmin Jacome of Concord. She is a 2007 graduate of Mt. Diablo High School in Concord and earned an associated degree in 2011 from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.
Army Reserve Pvt. Brian J. Calderon has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, in Columbus, Ga.
During nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, and Army history, core values and traditions.
Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and use of weapons and defenses.
Calderon is the son of Benjamin and Aura Calderon of Bay Point, and is a 2011 graduate of Mt. Diablo High School in Concord.
Army Pvt. Kayla J. Beeson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
The soldier completed nine weeks of training in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Additional training was in physical fitness, the Army mission, history, tradition and core values.
Beeson is the daughter of Brian and Jenee Beeson of Concord, and is a 2012 graduate of Clayton Valley High School in Concord.
