Groups of walkers, above, circle Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord during the city's annual 24-hour Relay for Life event, raising funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, cancer survivors wearing purple T-shirts took the first lap, and teams and individuals kept the relay going. For the luminaria ceremony that night, bags, below, were decorated with messages to loved ones who died of cancer and to those battling the disease, and were lighted and displayed along the relay route. The Clayton Relay for Life is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Clayton Community Park, at Marsh Creek Road and Regency Drive.
