Blake Buchanan, the son of Don "Buck" and Joy Buchanan, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in Court of Honor ceremonies June 25, at Clayton Valley Presbyterian Church in Concord.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 364 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Gene Dodge.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Buchanan constructed 16 owl boxes to be donated to the Native Bird Connection for placement throughout the East Bay as needed for pest management and abatement.

During his Scouting career, Buchanan received the Order of the Arrow and was a Camp Wolfeboro Pioneer. He is also a third-generation Eagle Scout.

Buchanan, 18, is a 2013 graduate of De La Salle High School in Concord, and is attending Gonzaga University this fall. He is a resident of Clayton.
