CONCORD -- The Mt. Diablo school district will host parent meetings this month to explain the statewide transition to new Common Core curriculum standards, which require more in-depth teaching and learning.

Parents are invited to attend one of four meetings: 6 to 7 p.m. Monday or 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane in Concord; 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at El Dorado Middle School, 1750 West St. in Concord; or 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Riverview Middle School, 205 Pacifica Ave. in Pittsburg.

The meeting will answer questions such as: "How will the Common Core state standards affect what my child learns and how my child will be assessed?"

Information about the meetings is available by calling 925-682-8000 ext. 4015 or by visiting www.mdusd.org. Click on "Parent Information Meetings on Common Core."
