On Monday, citizens across America paid tribute to U.S. servicemen and servicewomen in Veterans Day ceremonies, with parades, speeches and the laying of wreaths. Closer to home, Contra Costa County residents took time prior to the holiday to place more than 2,000 American flags on the graves of military personnel buried at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord.
