The Lions Clubs International "Lions Built Matteo's Dream" float in the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1, in Pasadena, depicts the all-abilities playground in Concord -- Matteo's Dream. It received the Tournament Special Award for Exceptional Merit in multiple classifications. The playground was built in 2007 and named after Matteo Henderson, who had cerebral palsy and was blind. He died in 2011. Riding the float in honor of their son were Liz Lamach and Rene Henderson; 17-year-old Christian Campbell, of Concord, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, and his mother, Kausha King; and Concord Councilwoman Laura Hoffmeister.
