The yo-yo ride, above, attracted a crowd at the 39th annual Concord Family Carnival held over the weekend at Concord High School, though Victoria Collins, 5, of Concord, left, preferred the slower pace of the carousel. At the weekend event, there was county fair-inspired food, games, prizes and musical entertainment provided by elementary, middle and high school students in the Mt. Diablo School District. Proceeds from gate admissions, ride tickets and water concessions benefit school and community programs, including Grad Night activities, the Mt. Diablo Music Education Foundation, the school district's Homeless Outreach Program for Education and Foster Youth Services.
