Mountain View spring cleaning fundraiser set

The Mountain View Parent Faculty Club will hold its spring cleaning fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the school, 1705 Thornwood Drive, Concord.

Trucks in the parking lot will offer services and pickup throughout the day:

  • 10 a.m. to noon -- shredding for $5 per banker's box of paper

  • all day -- drop-off large garbage bags of clothing, stuffed animals, belts, purses, backpacks, shoes, bedding (no pillows)

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- e-waste collection; some items may require a $5 fee to recycle.

    All proceeds benefit student-related activities.

    Swing Dance at Ygnacio Valley High on May 9

    Ygnacio Valley's annual Swing Dance fundraiser will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the school, 755 Oak Grove Road, Concord.

    The event is hosted by the Ygnacio Valley High School Instrumental Music Boosters and the Jazz Band will be performing for the entire evening. There will be a concession stand with desserts and drinks available.

    Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The event is suitable for all ages, and the community is invited to attend. Proceeds benefit instrumental music students at Ygnacio Valley.

    Hope Academy offers summer program

    Hope Academy for Dyslexics is registering children in grades 1-7 for a half-day summer program from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 16-July 11. The school, at 5353 Concord Blvd. in Concord, serves dyslexic children who struggle in the areas of reading, writing or spelling.
