CONCORD--An intoxicated driver sent a Concord police officer to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after she made an illegal left turn, causing the officer to collide into her car, authorities said.
Police say the crash took place around 12:40 p.m., as the officer was driving northbound on Oak Grove Road near Sierra Road with his lights on. He was cut off by a 2014 Ford Fiesta making an illegal left turn in front of his car; the officer couldn't avoid the car and broadsided the vehicle, Concord police said.
The driver, later identified as 45-year-old Margaret Collins, of Concord, was not injured, but arrested for driving under the influence. The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
