CONCORD -- Mt. Diablo school district Chief Financial Officer Bryan Richards has been placed on administrative leave and his contract will not be renewed, Superintendent Nellie Meyer said Wednesday.
Richards' last day of work was May 28, Meyer said. She declined to state the reason for his early departure.
"It was definitely a parting of the ways," she said.
The board agreed last month not to renew Richards' contract, which expires June 30, along with the contracts of three assistant superintendents whose positions are being eliminated as part of a district office reorganization proposed by Meyer, who became superintendent last September.
A director of budget and fiscal services will take on many duties performed by Richards at a salary of $93,441-$113,569 a year. Richards earned $148,400 annually.
