  • At the Clayton Community Library, Story Time programs are on vacation.

    Patty Cakes Storytime: The next session is 11 a.m. Tuesdays, June 17-Aug. 12. It is for kids ages 0-3 with a caregiver. Picture Book Time: The next session is 11 a.m. Thursdays from June 19-Aug. 14, is for kids ages 3-5 who can attend without a caregiver.

    Kids' Scavenger Hunt: 4-5 p.m. June 16. Kids in grades K-5 who complete the scavenger hunt can win a prize.

    Magic with Timothy James: 7-8 p.m. June 16. Kids will enjoy an evening of magic.

    Busy Bee Dogs: 4-4:40 p.m. June 19. The formerly homeless pets, Busy Bee Dogs will provide educational entertainment.

    Toy/Stuffed Animal Pet Show: 4-5 p.m. July 7. Kids in grades K-5 can bring their favorite stuffed animal to the library and it may win a prize.

    Fratello Marionettes: 4-4:40 p.m. July 10. Kids are invited to the Fratello Marionettes' presentation of "Carnival of the Animals," sponsored by the Clayton Community Library Foundation.

    Puppet Workshop: 4-5 p.m. July 14. Kids in grades K-5 are invited to make a puppet, write a script and put on a show. Register in advance.

    Paws to Sing: 7-7:30 p.m. July 14. Kids ages 5-11 and their families are invited to sing along, move along and play along.

    Yarn Creatures: 4-5 p.m. July 16. Using a cup and some yarn, a creature will be created for teens' amusement by presenter Matthew.

    Book Buddies: 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. (Call 925-673-0659 to confirm the program on a specific Wednesday). A book buddy volunteer reader is in the library to read stories to children 3 and older.

    Beading With Yolanda: 4-5 p.m. June 18. Youth ages 12-17 can make a bead necklace or bracelet with Yolanda. Register by 4 p.m. June 17.

    Book Bites: 4-5 p.m. July 9. Students in grades 6-12 can same a wide selection of books and record their impressions on the Book Bites Placemat. Refreshments follow. Register by July 1.

    Clayton Library Book Club: 7-9 p.m. on the second Mondays is open to interested adults. Sunny Solomon leads the discussion July 14, on "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter," by Carson McCullers.

    Preschool Story Time: 10:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays through July 2. It is for children 3½-5 and features stories and songs. LEGO & Listen: 7 p.m. July 14. Kids ages 6-12 can build with Lego blocks while listening to a recorded book. Registration is required, and space is limited.

    Movie Monday: 7-8:30 p.m. June 30. Kids ages 5-11 are invited to watch a G- or PG-rated film.

    Busy Bee Dogs: 7-8 p.m. June 16. The formerly homeless pets, the Busy Bee Dogs will kick off the Summer Reading Festival.

    Free Tutoring: 5-7 p.m. Mondays and 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays through August. Responsible teen volunteers will tutor all subjects and all ages. Contact Christina Gendron at 925-646-5455 with questions or to become a tutor.

    Insiders: 1-2 p.m. June 25. Adults with disabilities can enjoy a laid-back setting in the library for enrichment and fun. Events differ each month and vary from arts and crafts, enjoying music and dance, and playing games on the Wii.

    All Ears Reading: 1-2 p.m. July 9. Adults with disabilities can enjoy the unconditional love of dogs and practice reading to furry friends. Dogs and their handlers are supplied courtesy of a partnership between the library and Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation.

    Concord Mystery Book Club: 2:30 p.m. the second Sunday of the month, and mystery lovers are invited to join the group.

    Spanish Book Club: 3-4 p.m. June 26. Adults can join the club led by Luisa Carnathan and read and discuss books in Spanish.

    What You Need to Know about Immigration Law: 6-8 p.m. July 10. Residents can meet with an immigration attorney at not charge. The event is sponsored by the Contra Costa County Bar Association.

    Deeper into Meditation with Dr. Zaslove: 1 p.m. July 24. Adults can learn techniques of meditation, and useful directions for deepening and stabilizing meditation practices. Presented by board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Marshall Zaslove.

    Free Computer Help: noon-2 p.m. Saturdays. Adults and seniors can get assistance on a drop-in basis on how to use computers, and can get help setting up e-readers, smart phones, tablets and using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other programs.

    Knitting and crochet group: 1:15-4:45 p.m. July 6. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Drop in anytime to knit, crochet and network. Free knitting and crocheting instruction. Some practice yarn provided, but bring your own needles.

    ESL Conversation Group: 7-8 p.m. Mondays. Adults can practice their English conversation skills in an informal, friendly and small-group setting.
