Driver held in crash that killed two

Police have arrested a 24-year-old Concord man who they say had been drinking before he caused a fatal crash that killed a woman and her infant daughter Friday night on Willow Pass Road.

Gerardo Harquin has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in the deaths of Lorena Dominguez, 23, and her 21-month-old daughter, Khloe Duenas.

The mother and daughter were in a car traveling on the Kinne Bridge overcrossing when Harquin's SUV crossed a divider line and hit their vehicle head-on, authorities said.

The baby and Dominquez were transported to Oakland hospitals; both later succumbed to their injuries.

Three boys aged 12, 16 and 17, who were traveling with Harquin, suffered moderate injuries and were also transported to hospitals.

Police say Harquin was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to to contact Concord police Officer Ken Carlson at 925-603-5931.
