Salvin

Air Force Airman Kelly R. Salvin has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Salvin is the daughter of Suzanne and John Salvin of Concord, and granddaughter of John and Marilynn Salvin of Escalon.

She is a 2012 graduate of Carondelet High School in Concord.

Wence

Army Pvt. Alberto Wence has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, in Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Wence is the son of Alberto and Nereida Wence of Concord, and a 2013 graduate of Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord.
