Gonzalez

Air Force Airman Kevin A. Gonzalez, the son of Mario and Anna Gonzalez of Concord, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He completed an intensive, eight-week program, which included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Chrobot

Navy Seaman Matthew H. Chrobot, the son of Barbara and Ted Chrobot of Concord, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Chrobot completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Chrobot is a 2002 graduate of Clayton Valley High School.

Rueda

Army Sgt. Alberto Rueda, the son of Luis and Carmen Rueda of Concord, has completed the Warrior Transition Course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

The course, which teaches basic skills necessary for integration into the Army for all prior-service servicemembers, involves much of the same training

developed in basic combat training, except that it lasts five weeks instead of nine.

To complete the course, soldiers must complete the Army physical fitness test with a minimum of 60 points in each event; the M-16 weapon qualification; tactical foot marches; tactical field and situational training; and the land navigation course.

Rueda graduated in 1993 from Mt. Diablo High School and received an associate degree in 2002 from ITT Technical Institute in Hayward.
