Concord city offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 25, for a furlough day, and Nov. 26-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Additional furlough days are set for Dec. 24 and Dec. 28-31.
Offices closed include the Civic Center complex, 1950 Parkside Drive; Public Works Department, 1455 Gasoline Alley; Engineering Department, 2151 Salvio St.; Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle; Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Road.
The Police Southern District Office, 1500 Monument Blvd., #17 and police headquarters, 1350 Galindo St. will be closed, but police patrol and dispatch operations will remain open.
Willow Pass Community Center, 2748 E. Olivera Road, will be closed except for evening classes Nov. 25. Concord Community Pool, 3501 Cowell Road, will be will be closed Nov. 25-26, but open holiday hours from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 27. Diablo Creek Golf Course will close at 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.
The closures are part of the city's plan to balance its general fund. Employees are taking 13 unpaid furlough days in the 2009-10 fiscal year to achieve the equivalent of a 5 percent pay cut.
Concord, like most California cities, has had to face budget shortfalls due to sharp decreases in sales and property tax revenues.
