DANVILLE -- Candace Andersen has been chosen the "Elected Woman of the Year" by California Women Lead.
The former mayor of Danville, and newly appointed Contra Costa County supervisor for District Two, received the award Aug. 8 in Sacramento. The MOVER awards -- Making our Vision of Equality a Reality -- are awarded at the group's annual summer reception.
In choosing her for the award, judges cited Andersen's many years as an elected official and her volunteer work encouraging other women to seek office.
California Women Lead is a nonpartisan association that encourages women to become community leaders.
At the same event, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen received the Woman of the Year award.
