The Las Lomas High School Car Classic will be held Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 1460 S. Main St.

For the second year in a row, the car show will feature various vehicles and have food, music and prizes. All money raised at the event will benefit the senior class' activities.

Organizers are still looking for entries of new, used or vintage cars. There will also be test drives available of new Dodge, Chevy, Ford and Toyota cars.

Students are also encouraged to attend with their own cars. It costs $10 for a student to enter their own car in the show.

Organizers also seek donations of gift certificates, merchandise and coupons that can be used as fliers. Go to www.laslomasptsa.com to download a donor form.

and after school programs for kids kindergarten through 12th grade.

The programs are taught in the classroom and workplace by volunteers from the local business community. Walnut Creeks students participated last year and will again this year, according to the group.

Last school year, Contra Costa students participated in "JA Days," where trained volunteers spent a day in a classroom, or once a week for up to seven weeks.

"Students learned the basics of personal and professional finances, starting and marketing a business, ethical dilemmas, and entrepreneurship," according to the release. "Teachers welcome JA into the classroom because it helps students connect other lessons and topics they have covered to 'real world' applications."
