Starting this week, Rio Vista has a new transportation service, which will increase the mobility of residents and visitors to destinations that are not part of the Rio Vista Delta Breeze buses. The volunteer-based service is currently operating Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The new transportation program is called Ride With Pride and its hours are planned to expand as more volunteer drivers come forward. Among the destinations included are Rio Vista, Antioch, Pittsburg, Isleton, Fairfield, Suisun City and Vacaville.
Riders can use the service for medical appointments and shopping, banking and pharmacy trips with advance reservations. Seniors who are 60 and over and those with disabilities can register for Ride With Pride by calling 707-469-6675 weekdays between 9 a.m. and noon.
The service is being provided by Faith in Action in partnership with the city of Rio Vista. The city is providing a minivan and Faith in Action is paying for the vehicle's insurance.
Interested Solano County volunteers should call 707-469-6668. For more information on Faith in Action, check out www.faithinactionsolano.org.
