Cheng

Ryan Kevin Lim Cheng, 15, the son of Irene Cheng, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which was presented in Court of Honor ceremonies Sept. 15, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Concord.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 490, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Eric Johnson.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Cheng built two mobile redwood planter tables for the J-Sei residential care facility for the elderly. The planter tables are wheelchair-accessible, and residents at J-Sei planted flower seeds and herbs and are enjoying the blooms and cooking with the herbs.

Cheng, of Martinez, is a sophomore at Acalanes High School in Lafayette.

Manske

Robert Joseph Manske, 18, the son of Harmon and Jan Manske, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which will be presented in Court of Honor ceremonies Nov. 18, at Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 277, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Don Hinton.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Manske planned, designed and built a 15x12x8-foot tall redwood pergola at Rodgers Ranch in Pleasant Hill.

During his Scouting career, Manske earned 28 merit badges, 109 service hours and the World Conservation Award.

Manske, of Pleasant Hill, is a freshman at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.
