Professionals from Diablo Ballet will partner with students of Civic Arts Education's Dance Academy for the Winter Ballet Gala of holiday favorites in classical and contemporary styles.

"The array of music and dance embraces celebrations from people and countries all around the world," says program director Rebecca Crowell.

Diablo Ballet's professional dancers Hiromi Yamazaki and Edward Stegge will be featured with students from levels II, III and the intermediate and advanced professional training program.

College Park High School senior Chelsea Chan will reprise her role as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and says, "It is such fun. It's one of the parts that I've always wanted to dance."

"We have lots of Christmas dances in the first half, and then the Nutcracker in the second half," says Carondelet High School freshman Jillian Garibaldi.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14-15, with a 2 p.m. matinee Dec. 15, at the Shadelands Auditorium, 1111 N. Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek. Tickets are $10. For more information, call Civic Arts Education at 925-943-5846.
