Falcons start out hot

  • The College Park High boys basketball team is off to a fast start, winning its first three games of the season during the week of Nov. 26. Senior Mikey Eggleton averaged 15 points, five assists and five rebounds as the Falcons beat Pinole Valley, Alhambra and Casa Grande-Petaluma. Sophomore Joe DeMers had a team-high 17 points in the Falcons' closest win, a 63-57 overtime win over rival Alhambra on Nov. 28.

    Minutemen take title

  • The Concord High boys basketball team won the Straw Hat Classic by beating Marshall-San Francisco 60-39 in the championship game Dec. 1. Tylek Farley had 13 points and 15 rebounds in the final to earn tournament MVP honors. Teammates Bryan Muonekwu (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Pablo Rojas were also all-tournament picks.

    Dons secure championship

  • Behind goals from Ben Croze and Max Mirner, the Acalanes High boys soccer team beat Campolindo 2-0 to win the Winter Soccer Classic Silver Division on Dec. 1. Both goals came in the first half. The victory pushed Acalanes' record to 4-0 on the year while the loss was Campolindo's first of the season.
