CONTRA COSTA COUNTY -- Contra Costa Health Services is still seeking volunteers aged 18 and up to assist in the biennial count of the county's homeless population for a few hours on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
Volunteers will collect data in East, West and Central Contra Costa County from 6 to 8:30 a.m. The information from the census will be used to determine the appropriate amount of funding needed for homeless services, including emergency shelter and permanent housing, case management, substance abuse counseling, and job training.
Volunteers must attend a one-hour training session before the count. Two training sessions will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, in Richmond, and another just before the count.
