All five Mt. Diablo Unified School District high schools, including Northgate and Ygnacio Valley, have been recognized and honored for our high participation in 2012 in the Early Assessment Program.

This voluntary program is designed to provide students, their families and high schools with early signals about students' readiness for college-level English and mathematics. MDUSD high schools were part of a small group of schools in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties with the following participation rates:

  • Northgate High School, 99 percent

  • Ygnacio Valley High School, 97 percent

  • College Park High School, 98 percent

  • Concord High School, 96 percent

  • Mt. Diablo High School, 96 percent

    Kindergarten orientation for parents of preschool students entering Kindergarten in Walnut Creek schools will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Walnut Creek Intermediate School library, 2425 Walnut Blvd.

    District Superintendent Dr. Patty Wool will offer a welcometo be followed by a description of the district as a whole, and of the transitional and standard Kindergarten programs specifically. There also will be a question-and-answer session.
