PLEASANT HILL -- Miramonte High in Orinda has won the Contra Costa County Mock Trial championship and will represent the area in the state competition March 23-25 in Riverside.

It was the school's second consecutive win and its 10th since 2000. The championship involved intense debates between 17 high school teams in Superior Court in Martinez.

Other top finishers were: California High from San Ramon placing second, Acalanes High from Lafayette placing third and Monte Vista High from Danville placing fourth.

In addition, the teams from the following high schools also competed: Alhambra, Antioch, Campolindo, Clayton Valley Charter, Deer Valley Law Academy, Dougherty Valley, El Cerrito, Hercules, Heritage, Kennedy, Las Lomas, Miramonte, Northgate and Richmond.
