ANTIOCH -- Two teenagers were behind bars after they were caught burglarizing an Antioch home on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Around 1:30 p.m., Antioch police responded to the 2800 block of Vista Way, said Cpl. Rick Smith. A neighbor, knowing the residents were not home, called and said they saw two people go into the side yard of the home.

When officers arrived, Smith said, they found the home had been forced open. When officers went inside, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were caught ransacking the home and placing items from the residence into bags.

Both teens attempted to flee, but were quickly caught by officers. Smith said the teens had several items belonging to the homeowners on them when they were arrested.

The 17-year-old was taken to juvenile hall and the 18-year-old was booked into the County Jail in Martinez.

Neither teen's name is being released pending an ongoing investigation.
