BRENTWOOD -- Eight homes were evacuated Friday night after PG&E crews rushed to repair a gas leak in a Brentwood neighborhood, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

The leak was first reported at 2785 St. Andrews Dr. at 4:22 p.m., said PG&E's Jana Morris.

She said 10 homes had to have their gas lines shut off, and of those 10 homes, eight families were evacuated as a precaution.

The gas main was shut off around 7:28 p.m, Morris added, and those families that had been evacuated were able to return home.

Ten customers remained without gas service while repairs were completed around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

PG&E crews stayed on scene until 8 a.m. to clean up and a company representative came out to re-light pilot lights in homes where the gas had been shut off.

An investigation into what caused the gas leak is still ongoing, Morris said.
