PITTSBURG -- For the second time within a year, there is a vacancy on the Pittsburg Unified School District.
Trustee William Wong informed his fellow school board members at a school board meeting this week that he would be resigning from the board, effective Feb. 27.
Wong is resigning because he is moving out of the district to San Mateo County, said district Superintendent Linda Rondeau.
The vacancy will be filled through an appointment process that will allow candidates to submit applications for the position.
Rondeau said she expects to meet with board President Vincent Ferrante next week to discuss the time frame for the selection process. It is hoped that a new board member will be chosen in time for the district's March 13 board meeting, she said.
Last June, former trustee Robert Belleci resigned from the board. That vacancy was filled by Joe Arenivar, who was elected to the board in November.
