ALAMO -- A request for approval of a permit to build an 8,973-square-foot gymnasium and game room by the San Ramon United Methodist Church will be reviewed Wednesday by the Alamo Improvement Association.
The gymnasium would be an addition to the existing church for a total of 43,827 square feet on the property at 902 Danville Blvd.
"My personal concern is when you start enlarging the facility it goes beyond having a neighborhood impact," AIA Planning Committee Chairman Ed Moran said. "We need to be sensitive to the neighbors."
The proposal includes the reconfiguration of an existing parking lot and the replacement of parking lot lighting. It also included variances from an off-street parking ordinance for substandard parking space dimensions.
The project includes the removal of two code-protected trees and work within the drip line of an additional seven code-protected trees.
The design for the gymnasium has been revised since it was reviewed by Alamo Improvement Association in October.
"The bottom line is if any proposed changes meet county standards and the neighbors don't have any objections, typically AIA would recommend approval," Moran said.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Creekside Room at Creekside Community Church, 1350 Danville Blvd.
