Toby, a 10-month-old, overgrown puppy, weighs 80 pounds. He knows "sit, down, stay, leave it, take it and wait," but is quite stubborn and needs improvement with "come, heel, drop it and settle down." He's energetic and accustomed to walks every day, but it takes a firm hand to keep him under control. He would do well with someone active, who has patience and will guide him. Toby is housebroken and crate-trained. Email firstname.lastname@example.org, call MUSH (Malamutes Unwanted Seeking Homes) at 800-399-8155; visit www.ncama.org, click on "rescue."
Mocha, a 9-year-old, spayed, fawn, female pug, was surrendered to a shelter. She's sweet and a constant shadow to her human companion. She has some arthritis in her back legs and knees, and slight loss of vision in her right eye, but enjoys short stints in the yard and rides in the car. She is current on vaccinations, is microchipped and heartworm negative. Pug Rescue will be at Pet Food Express, at Oak Grove Road and Treat Boulevard in Concord, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 20,
