PLEASANT HILL -- The Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District board has rescheduled the interviews of the nine applicants seeking a vacant seat on the board.
The four board members will interview the candidates on Jan. 28 -- not Jan. 24, as originally scheduled -- and appoint one of them to finish the two years left on Cecile Shepard's term. The board meeting is open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m. at the district office, 147 Gregory Lane.
Shepard, who had served on the district board since her appointment in 1996, resigned abruptly at the end of November.
The applicants are Matthew Rinn, former president of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, who ran unsuccessfully in November for a seat on the Pleasant Hill City Council; Dawn Block, wife of Pleasant Hill Mayor Michael Harris; Thor Scordelis, chairman of the Pleasant Hill Architectural Review Commission; Harold Jeffrey, John Crawford, Jim Keck, Zac Shess, Jayne Combs and Tim Ernst.
