CONCORD -- The city is looking for new members for its Community Services Commission and its new Downtown Specific Plan Ad Hoc Steering Committee.

The Community Services Commission, comprising nine members, meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. It is looking for four members and two alternates. Commission members advise city council on the allocation of federal development block grants and discuss housing, neighborhood and social service needs within Concord. The deadline to apply is Feb. 22 at 5 p.m.

The city will also accept applications through Feb. 15 for the Downtown Specific Plan Ad Hoc Steering Committee, which needs three at-large members. Preference will be given to people who work or reside in the downtown area, according to the city. The committee also includes city and business leaders.

Its members will aide in the development of the Concord Downtown Specific Plan, a community plan focused on the improvement of the downtown area near the BART station.

Applications are posted on the city's website at www.cityofconcord.org or can be obtained from the city clerk's office, 1950 Parkside Drive.
