EL SOBRANTE -- A 19-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night, authorities said.

The man, who was not identified, suffered two broken legs in the crash, according to Richmond Fire Battalion Chief Merlin Turner. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek in a CalStar medical helicopter.

The crash was reported about 10:19 p.m. on Castro Ranch Road near Conestoga Way, Turner said. The driver stopped and cooperated with authorities.
