HERCULES -- A 60-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after she was hit by a driver, then rolled over the vehicle, at an intersection in Hercules, authorities said.

The woman, who was not identified, was alert, according to Battalion Chief Brian Lowry of the Hercules-Rodeo Fire District. She had numerous abrasions and reported "significant" hip pain, he added.

No one else was injured.

The crash happened about 8:18 a.m. near a shopping center at the intersection of Sycamore Avenue and Refugio Valley Road, Lowry said. The woman was hit by the car and rolled over the vehicle's windshield.

Officals did not know the cause of the accident. Lowry said that cars moving through the intersection on a green light are typically moving at about 15 mph to 20 mph.

The driver stopped immediately and cooperated with investigators, Lowry said.
