RICHMOND -- A 23-year-old man was seriously injured when he was shot in the leg Tuesday night, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital, but his injury was not believed to be life-threatening, police said. No one else was injured.
Police were first called to the 500 block of West Ohio Avenue about 9:14 p.m. after the ShotSpotter audio system reported multiple gunshots in the area, according to Lt. Shawn Pickett. While they were on their way, another ShotSpotter alert reported shots fired in the area of 720 National Court, just south of the first call.
As officers were investigating, a resident called police to report the injured victim, who was about a half-mile away, in the 400 block of South 9th Street. Witnesses told police that the victim was in his car in the area of Canal Boulevard and Interstate 580 when a white SUV began firing at him. No one was arrested, and no further suspect information was available.
